University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (PTE MIK) signs agreement in research and development, innovation, strategic and communication partnership with one of the world’s largest electronic interconnect system manufacturers, Amphenol’s’ plant, founded in Pécs. The official signature of the strategic framework agreement took place 9am 6th September, at the Academic Year Opening Ceremony in MIK central building (Boszorkány srt.2).
Amphenol’s Hungarian affiliate, operates in the field of storage cell technology, engaged in flex cable and connector assembly, manufactures high priority storage cell components for several premium brand electronic car companies. One of the 200 enterprises of “Amphenol family” is present in Pécs since 2019.
The Pécs factory unit of this global company of American interest has tripled its work force in in the past year and set its goal to become the European base of production of Amphenol Industrial Product Group, with high added value for industrial solutions. To reach this, well-trained experts, especially engineers are needed, with resolution and innovation knowledge base that can be found in university education, such as at PTE MIK. The PTE Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is the most dynamically developing engineering training institution of higher education, covering almost the whole spectrum of technological sciences. The already wide industrial portfolio serves to utilize the results of education, research and development, therefore supports the long-term and continuous development of Hungarian industry and economy with its knowledge-based and pragmatic approach.
Research and development together with innovation are the major focus areas of the agreement signed with Amphenol. To generate front-rank knowledge and technology the two parties will achieve frequent knowledge and experience exchange, they will establish common research-development projects, as well as common educational-training programs. Related to education the Company and the University undertake to share scientific knowledge between each other, and develop common strategy, thus PTE will take into consideration Amphenol’s guidelines in its educational program and training portfolio. As a part of the agreement, the two parties will search and materialize common tender funds for their mutual projects.
